He is a past president of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and an adjunct clinical faculty member of the University of Minnesota Medical School. He has been interviewed in The New York Times, Runner’s World, Outside, Prevention, and CNN.com among other media.
While a student, Dr. Langer worked in footwear retail and discovered that people with foot pain will often first seek advice in shoe stores before they visit medical professionals. He realized that there was a need to not only provide a high level of expertise but also to provide footwear which has healthy options and solutions for painful conditions both in clinic and in the retail setting. Since 2015, Dr. Langer has teamed up with OLT Footcare, which provides a complete solution of 3D scanning, digital creation and 3D printing for footwear related products, such as prescribed custom foot orthotics, shoe insoles and custom orthotic sandals. As the medical director, Dr. Langer and rest of OLT team are working together to bring mass customization and on-demand manufacturing of footwear related products into both clinic and retail settings to meet the needs of those seeking comfort and solutions for common foot conditions.
